COVID-19 and Your Social Media Channels…What Should you Say?

Business Continuity Social Media Post Series Header - Think Outside the Box Social media and real estate COVID-19 coronavirus real estate marketing agent operations

As the reality of life with COVID-19 continues to evolve and we learn more about how troubling this virus is, it may feel strange to advocate for the lifeblood of your real estate business.

While you should help the world around you and do whatever you can, it’s also essential to remain vigilant about keeping in touch with your past clients and sphere of influence.

Trust me, they NEED your support and reassurance.

Social media is one way to provide that support.

But in such a serious climate, what should you say?

In today’s marketing tip, we’re covering an example of a series of Business Continuity social media posts (similar to the Business Continuity email template we shared on Thursday).

Real estate may look different as we work to conquer this health crisis, but at the end of the day, each and every person will need a place to call home. They will need to upsize and rightsize. They will relocate for job opportunities and buy the house they’ve always dreamed of. They will face the jitters of buying their first home, and they will relish the moment they walk through the threshold of their forever home.

And you can help them with ALL of that.

While I always advocate that you invest in an email marketing platform (like MailChimp–and they do NOT pay me to say that) to send regular SOI communications, you can also enlist the help of social media to stay in front of those you care about.

Let’s dive into what a series of Business Continuity social media posts might look like:

DAY 1 – POST 1:
Where to Post: LinkedIn Professional Profile, Facebook Business Page, Facebook Personal Page, Google My Business Page, Instagram Profile, and Your Blog.

Hi, Friends! My ((Brokerage/Personal Brand)) virtual office is open, and I’m blessed to be busy! While I’m working virtually, I’m still delivering the highest level of service to my buyers, sellers, and investors. Each and every person needs a place to call home, and my mission is to make sure that I’m serving you and our community by ensuring that the home buying and home selling processes are seamless and stress-free.

((optional offer of help)) If you need help or supplies, reach out to me anytime. I am committed to you, and I’m committed to helping others.

As a small business owner, I’m also praying for all of our other small business owners as we all work together to make the world a better place. If you have a real estate question, or if I can help in any way, I am here for you: ((phone number)) or ((email address)).

No matter what happens, I believe that there’s so much GOOD in the world around us. This is a time where we can help one another and show kindness and love. We’re in this together, and we will overcome it together.

DAY 2 – POST 2:
Where to Post: LinkedIn Professional Profile, Facebook Business Page, Facebook Personal Page, Google My Business Page, Instagram Profile, and Your Blog.

It’s true. We live in a strange time where uncertainty feels certain. With the 24/7 news cycle, it isn’t very easy to break away to feel the GOOD in life. So, today, I wanted to bring that GOOD directly to you. We’re in this together, and we will overcome it together.

Please always consider me a resource on real estate and the housing market. No matter what happens with COVID-19, homes will continue to be bought and sold. Homes will continue to be wise investments. Locally, showings and offers on listings remain strong, and buyers continue to take advantage of record-low interest rates.

I will continue to provide the best service I can–you have my word on that. I appreciate your support and referrals so much. Over the coming days, I will be sharing a series of helpful posts about COVID-19 and how it relates to real estate. If you have any specific questions, please reach out to me anytime: ((phone number)) or ((email address)).

DAY 3 – POST 3:
Where to Post: LinkedIn Professional Profile, Facebook Business Page, Facebook Personal Page, Google My Business Page, Instagram Profile, and Your Blog.

COVID-19 and Interest Rates: Should I refi my home mortgage?
Over the past few weeks, mortgage interest rates hit an all-time low, dipping into the 2% range. Currently, they’ve rebounded due to the very high volume of mortgage refi applications last week. As a general rule of thumb, if your interest rate is at 4% or below, it’s not likely that a refi will benefit you unless you decide to refi on a 15-year term. However, if your rate is above 4%, you may want to consider refinancing. Do you need a lender recommendation? Reach out to me anytime.

DAY 4 – POST 4:
Where to Post: LinkedIn Professional Profile, Facebook Business Page, Facebook Personal Page, Google My Business Page, Instagram Profile, and Your Blog.

COVID-19 and Buying or Selling: Going virtual is easier than you think!
Buyers: If you’re looking to buy a home, you’ll still receive the same high-quality service that you expect and deserve. We’ll conduct a Buyer’s Consultation virtually via Zoom, Skype, or Google Hangouts. It’s easy, and we can still discuss your specific needs in detail. I can also provide virtual tours of homes that fit your search criteria.
Sellers: If you’re thinking of selling, I’ll still be able to walk through your home virtually using tools like Facetime or Google Meet. This information will help me put together an accurate Comparative Market Analysis of your home, and that will help us price it correctly. If your home is on the market currently, there are many tools I can share that will help you show your home virtually to buyers, including a virtual open house. These tools demonstrate to buyers that you’re doing your part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, but that you’re still serious about getting your home sold.

COVID-19 and How You Can Make a Difference in Your Community

  1. Use social media for good.
  2. Support local businesses as much as you can.
  3. Purchase gift cards from your favorite local restaurants or shops.
  4. Help the elderly in your neighborhood. Call to see if they need anything from the grocery store or pharmacy and offer to pick items up for them.
  5. Be sure to always use Social Distancing, remaining 6 feet away from others.

In this unprecedented time, let me know how I can connect your friends and family with my network. If you know someone who is out of work or a local business who needs help, reach out to me. I will do whatever I can to help.

I am here for you. Reach out anytime with real estate questions, funny memes, tears, happy stories, or challenges. For questions specific to COVID-19, please check the CDC’s website regularly for updates.

Thank you for your continued support. You mean the world to me.
